Nearly 27,000 runners enjoyed wonderfully warm and sunny weather Saturday, May 18, 2019, for the 39th annual Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon — which maintained its status as the largest race of its kind in U.S. history.
Massachusetts runner Louis Serafini set a new record by finishing the 13.1-mile race — which started near the Brooklyn Museum and finished near Ruby’s Bar & Grill on the famous Coney Island boardwalk — in 1 hour and 3 minutes, and New York runner Feyne Gudeto Gemeda finished in 1 hour and 12 minutes for the women’s win.
Celebrity runners included Broadway star Christy Altomare, award-winning chef Daniel Humm, model Ruby Aldridge and retired football stars Tiki Barber and D’Brickashaw Ferguson.
Ruby’s was proud to cheer on runners during the race and be a source of quality refreshments for participants and supporters. Congrats to everyone involved!
