You haven’t really experienced Coney Island until you’ve gone to its world-famous annual Mermaid Parade, and the gorgeous weather June 16 helped make this year’s event off-the-charts awesome, with thousands participating and hundreds of thousands in attendance!
The parade, which pays homage to the hugely popular Coney Island Mardi Gras parades of the early 1900s, is the largest procession of its kind in the U.S., attracting hundreds of professional and amateur entertainers and thousands of spectators from all over. The imaginative costumes, floats and performances are a must-see!
Also a must-see: the celebrity queen and king chosen to lead the parade and help celebrate the start of summer and the official opening of the Atlantic Ocean. Queen Mermaid and King Neptune for the 2018 parade were celebrity couple Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman!
Ruby’s Bar & Grill’s picturesque ocean-facing spot on the boardwalk makes it ideal for viewing MER-peeps in their natural element and THE perfect place to party all day long. We look forward to seeing you on the boardwalk for next year’s parade!
