  • FREE Flicks on the Beach series starts July 9!

    On select Monday nights in July and August, the beach near Ruby's Bar & Grill will be transformed into a makeshift movie theater at dusk — complete with a 40-foot inflatable screen! The FREE flicks for the 2018 summer season include box-office hit "The Greatest Showman" July 9, sci-fi adventure comedy "Back to the Future" July 23, family favorite "Coco" Aug. 6 and blockbuster "Black Panther" Aug. 20.   • Runners, celebs, survivors brave rain at 2018 Brooklyn Half!

    Rain and chilly temperatures didn't deter more than 25,000 runners Saturday, May 19, 2018, for the Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon, which maintained its status as the largest race of its kind in U.S. history. Among the runners in the 13-mile race — which started near the Brooklyn Museum and finished near Ruby's Bar & Grill on the famous Coney Island boardwalk — were celebrities such as NFL star Tiki Barber (who ran a 6-minute personal best), Olympian Deena Kastor (who placed second in the women's race) and competitive hot dog eater Yasir Salem, as well as hurricane victims and employees of Puerto Rico-based Banco Popular (which sponsored the event).   • Polar Bear Plunge raises $43,000 for Coney Island!

    Even the cold of winter can’t dampen Coney Island’s energetic atmosphere! Every year, the Coney Island Polar Bear Club hosts its popular New Year’s Day Swim — when daring souls don bathing suits and costumes to take a quick dip in the Atlantic Ocean for fun and charity. With beach temps in the mid-teens and water temps in the high 30s, approximately 1,200 brave swimmers participated in the 2018 plunge Jan. 1, raising approximately $43,000 for local Coney Island organizations, including the New York Aquarium and the Alliance for Coney Island.   • Thousands turn out for Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk!

    Breast cancer survivors and lost loved ones were celebrated and honored Sunday, Oct. 15, during the American Cancer Society's 2017 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Coney Island. Thousands participated in the 4-mile walk, which helped raise awareness and funds for breast cancer support and research. The 806 teams that participated raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the organization, with the top team raising more than $22,000 alone. You can see the impressive fundraising results HERE.   • Brooklyn Alzheimer’s Walk raised nearly $50,000!

    More than 300 participants headed to West 15th Street and the Coney Island boardwalk (not far from Ruby's) Sunday, Sept. 24, for CaringKind's 2017 Brooklyn Alzheimer's Walk. The 2-mile event, which raised nearly $50,000, helps raise awareness and funding for Alzheimer's care and research.     For the first time ever, Ruby's Bar & Grill was open NEW YEAR'S EVE (2016) ... and partiers showed up in droves!
