  • Join us for Coney Breast Cancer Walk Oct. 20 on boardwalk!

    Breast cancer survivors and lost loved ones will be celebrated and honored Sunday, Oct. 20, during the American Cancer Society's 2019 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Coney Island. Last year, more than 35,000 people participated in the 4-mile walk, which helped raise awareness and more than $500,000 for breast cancer support and research.   • Coney Alzheimer’s Walk raised over $58,000!

    Hundreds of participants headed to West 15th Street and the Coney Island boardwalk (not far from Ruby’s) Sunday, Sept. 22, for CaringKind’s 2019 Brooklyn Alzheimer’s Walk. The 2-mile event, which brought in over $58,000, helps raise awareness and funding for Alzheimer’s care and research.   • Coney Island amphitheater concerts rocked!

    What do you get when you mix legendary and contemporary artists with an incredible state-of-the-art venue at an idyllic beach destination that's a hop, skip and a jump away from legendary Ruby's Bar & Grill? The BEST summer EVER! Coney Island's Ford Amphitheater had something for EVERYONE this past summer season. Among its FREE 2019 concerts were "Fela! The Concert"; "The 70s Soul Jam," featuring The Stylistics, The Manhattans and Harold Melvin's Blue Notes; and "Summerstage," featuring La Sonora Poncena, Jose 'El Canario' Alberto, DJ Lucho and DJ C.   • FREE Flicks on the Beach were fabulous!

    On select Monday nights in July and August, the beach near Ruby's Bar & Grill was transformed into a makeshift movie theater at dusk — complete with a 40-foot inflatable screen! The FREE flicks for the 2019 summer season included family favorite "The Incredibles 2," award-winning box office hit "A Star Is Born" and sci-fi blockbuster "Avengers: End Game."     You haven't really experienced Coney Island until you've gone to its world-famous annual Mermaid Parade, and the absolutely gorgeous weather June 22 helped make this year's event off-the-charts awesome, with thousands participating and hundreds of thousands in attendance — totaling more than 800,000!   • Glorious weather and new race record at 2019 Brooklyn Half!

    Nearly 27,000 runners enjoyed wonderfully warm and sunny weather Saturday, May 18, 2019, for the 39th annual Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon — which maintained its status as the largest race of its kind in U.S. history. Massachusetts runner Louis Serafini set a new record by finishing the 13.1-mile race — which started near the Brooklyn Museum and finished near Ruby's Bar & Grill on the famous Coney Island boardwalk — in 1 hour and 3 minutes, and New York runner Feyne Gudeto Gemeda finished in 1 hour and 12 minutes for the women's win.   • Polar Bear Plunge raised over $55,000 for Coney Island!

    Even the cold of winter can’t dampen Coney Island’s energetic atmosphere! Every year, the Coney Island Polar Bear Club hosts its popular New Year’s Day Swim — when daring souls don bathing suits and costumes to take a quick dip in the Atlantic Ocean for fun and charity. With beach temps in the high 50s and water temps in the mid-40s, approximately 4,000 brave swimmers participated in the 2019 plunge Jan. 1, raising $55,319 for local Coney Island organizations, including the New York Aquarium and the Alliance for Coney Island — approximately $12,000 more than last year.     For the first time ever, Ruby's Bar & Grill was open NEW YEAR'S EVE (2016) ... and partiers showed up in droves!
